A brief history

A Humble but divine beginning

In the early 1990’s God impressed upon Stephen Hammond the need to teach the Spirit-filled born-again believers, the Biblical financial principals of stewardship.

As God opened the doors for Mr. Hammond to refine his public speaking skills by teaching adult Sunday school and Wednesday evening services; increasing his desire to help Christians implement Biblical financial principles.

In 1993 He established Christian Values Investing Inc. in Savannah, Georgia— one of the first “fee-only” investment advisory firms in the United States with an emphasis in Biblically Responsible Investing. Mr. Hammond believed that a faithful steward of God’s money should only invest into businesses and organizations that reflect Christian values. As the investment advisory grew, God began a process of prompting Mr. Hammond with an uneasy sense that there was something more that he should be doing.

Two Scripture references kept prompting him to warn Christians to live by Biblical financial principles:

“Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” – (Esther 4:14 KJV)

“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.” – (Ezekiel 3:17 KJV)

Convinced that God has uniquely positioned and called Covenant Financial Ministries to impact the world by teaching people Biblical stewardship, Mr. Hammond wrote the books Mission Possible: An Investment Guide for Christians (2002), The Successful Life Manager (2009), & The Successful Life Manager Leader’s Guide (2010).

In 2005, Covenant Financial Ministries was established.
