An avenue for God to bless

God’s Word gives us many examples why we should invest God’s assets. The best known is the parable of the Talents found in Matthew 25:14-30. The master gave each of his steward’s talents, and these talents served as an avenue in which the stewards could be found faithful and be blessed. This parable also shows that we are each entrusted by God with different financial assets, gifts, and opportunities. We will be held accountable to God for how we have used them in life. Each Christian should prepare for the Savior’s return by enhancing the growth of His Kingdom through wisely investing His assets. Throughout the Bible are examples of how faithful men and women of God were blessed financially through investment avenues. The virtuous woman in Proverbs 31:16 purchased a field and planted a vineyard from out of her earnings. Job was the wealthiest man in the east. The investment avenue that God used to bless Job was with sheep, camels, oxen, and donkeys.

Since livestock was the means to wealth in Job’s time, they formed one the avenues through which God blessed Job. Because our society is not dominated by agriculture and livestock, avenues of financial blessings will include financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, commodities, and real estate. Isn’t that marvelous? Donkeys or stocks-it doesn’t matter to God. He can use any avenue to bless us with financial freedom. However, we must keep in mind that we can block almost any avenue to God’s blessing through poor habits and lifestyles. We cannot stop God from wanting to bless us, but we can stop Him from doing so.
